The Witch is a magic-based unit unlocked immediately upon starting the game.
The Witch is an INT-based unit designed to attack from a distance using attacks that utilize the game's Elemental Resistance system. Mages have VERY low HP and DEF outputs, making them fodder for any properly powerful enemy; even other Magic-users. They have an average RES output , though; thus Orbs are a good defensive option. Mages are bst used as Hit-and-run attackers; as they cannot withstand much punishment on the front-lines.
The Witch has a much lower HP output than her Male counterpart, though she has a much better RES growth, making her better against Magic than the Wizard. (Resistances still apply)
Alongside the Dagger and Book, the Witch also gains Mastery of the Magnet and Staff weapons, both of which focus on both an INT-Based offense and boosting RES; something which Books and Daggers do not.
What kind of spells a Mage/Magician gains upon creation/Reincarnation randomizes based on the three elements of Fire, Ice, Wind. Since characters retain already-learned abilities upon Reincarnation, it's completely possible for them to be given another element on top of the one they were already wielding; expanding their repertoire further.
Mages also gain debilitating spells such as Nullification and Enfeeble; which are meant to lower the stats of enemies....However, for some reason, these spells seem to fail 90% of the time regardless of the character's "Passive Skills" level when used on enemies; but works most of the time on your allies. (Useful when grinding post-Reincarnation during the main storyline) Therefore, reliance of these spells are not recommended.
